Description

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping: You support the proper execution of monthly accounting activities. This includes assisting with recording income and expenses, reviewing supporting documents and invoices, and monitoring accounts. You will contribute to bookkeeping activities as needed and ensure accurate financial documentation.
  • Project Finance Support: You assist in project-related financial control tasks and help ensure that the finance department maintains a clear overview of project budgets and the organization’s annual financial plan. You support the preparation of financial reports for the programmatic department, the CEO, and other stakeholders.
  • Support to Financial Strategy: You contribute to the implementation of the organization’s financial strategy. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you assist in financial analysis, risk monitoring, and identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and tools.
  • Financial Planning, Monitoring & Reporting: You support the budget cycle, including planning, ongoing monitoring, and reporting. You assist in tracking expenditures and ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
  • Compliance, Risk Management & Private Donations Control: You support compliance with relevant financial regulations and donor requirements. You assist in maintaining internal controls to minimize financial risks and help monitor donations received and their proper allocation.
  • Financial Processes & Cross-Departmental Collaboration: You collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial processes. You contribute to coordination efforts and support the development of practical financial guidelines and procedures to promote transparency and consistency.
  • Operational Tasks: You assist with operational finance tasks such as preparing bank transfers, processing employee reimbursements, and supporting day-to-day financial administration.

Requirements

  • Education: Completed degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: As a Finance Assistant/Associate or in a comparable commercial position in a Non-Profit Organization, ideally in the humanitarian sector
  • Knowledge: Sound knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Language Skills: Full professional proficiency in English; German is a strong advantage.
  • Regulatory Framework: Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements for NGOs and aid organizations.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills as well as excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Work Style: Team-oriented and interdisciplinary
